This week was one of more de-construction than construction. The plaster ceiling and walls were pulled down. The old plaster came down easily; newer patched places took more effort. New or old, the plaster generated a huge amount of mess and dust. Everyone involved had to wear breathing masks. The purpose of all this mess was to get the space down 'to the studs' (those boards that run from floor to ceiling about 16 inches apart). By the end of the week the dumpster was full and the cafe was transformed.
